Mission statement

ADPI will work toward the advancement of the alcohol and other drug [AOD] field in California through the creation and dissemination of knowledge regarding alcohol and other drug problems and culturally competent approaches to their prevention and amelioration.

Objectives and target recipients of service

  1. Expand knowledge base of practitioners, managers, and administrators in AOD field.
  2. Inform policymakers and the public through conducting or commissioning studies; distributing data and analysis on the impact of AOD problems at state, county, and community levels; distributing information regarding best practices and promising approaches in AOD policy, prevention, and treatment.
  3. Develop more effective solutions to AOD problems by convening consumers, practitioners, administrators, and policymakers in all relevant service systems.

Legal structure

ADPI is a nonprofit public benefit corporation and is organized and operated exclusively for educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The California Secretary of State approved ADPI's Articles of Incorporation on March 21, 2002. Strategic Local Government Services currently acts as its fiscal and administrative agent.

Board make-up

ADPI operates under the direction of a 15-member board of directors, nine of which are representatives of the County Alcohol and Drug Program Administrators Association of CA (CADPAAC). Three are field reps, two are provider reps, and one is a research field rep.
